More Details On Albrecht Disappearance -- Another Search Possible This Week

MANKATO -- A search warrant lists several items not previously disclosed were found in a cadaver dog search for the remains of a missing Mapleton man.

Items believed to belong to Matthew Albrecht were discovered during the May 6th seach . Five days later the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed that the human leg bone found last December was a DNA match to Albrecht.

Initially, law enforcement said the items found west of the Sleepy Hollow subdivison included an second human leg bone, tennis shoes partial clothing remnants and a cell phone.

The search warrant recently filed in Blue Earth County Court also list miscellaneous bones, and IPod, a small amount of change, a partial pair of glasses and plastic wrap.

The warrant says it was around 11 a.m. when a Mankato police detective found the pair of tennis shoes that were later identified by family members as belonging to Albrecht. The shoes were located in a creek west of West Raven Rock Road.

Searchers then found a pair of jeans and a belt in the creek. Inside the jeans was an additional leg bone.

The general area that was searched, according the the warrant was in Section 21 of Mankato Township.

Blue Earth County Sheriff Capt. Rich Murry says it's possible another search may take place later this week.

April 26, 2010 -- 26-year-old Matthew Albrech is reported missing after walking away while fixing his vehicle along a city street in Mankato with his father. He was last seen that afternoon in the Washington Park area in Mankato.
December 4, 2010 -- A dog discovers a suspicious bone near 19 West Raven Rock Rd in Mankato Township.
December 6, 2010 -- Law enforcement take bone to Osteology Deparment at Minnesota State University. Dr. Kathleen Blue says bone is human, a femur from a male, 5-7 to 5-10 tall.
December 7, 2010 -- Bone is sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
December 8, 2010 -- Massive ground search for source of bone is hampered by snow. Nothing is found and additional searches are called off until spring.
December 15, 2010 -- The Minnesota BCA Crime Lab takes possession of bone for DNA testing.
May 6, 2011 -- Law enfocement resume search with Cadaver dogs. Discover additional "items of interest" including another leg bone and tennis shoes identified by Albrecht's by his family. Items again are sent to Ramsey County Medical Examiner and BCA for testing.
May 11, 2011 -- The BCA completes the testing on the human leg bone found in December and say it belongs to Albrecht.
