MANKATO – Mankato’s former Director of Public Safety has been named in a civil lawsuit accusing him and his wife of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a business they held an ownership stake in.
The lawsuit accuses Jerome and Mary Huettl of the “fraud and theft” of funds from U.S. Engravers of Mankato.
Jerome sold his stake in the company when Mary retired in 2009.
The lawsuit claims $75,000 in stolen cash payments, $50,000 in questionable credit card purchases, $15,000 in voided and questionable and voided checks, and assorted other questionable transactions accounting for over $28,000.
While a criminal investigation is ongoing, the lawsuit asks the court to freeze the couple’s assets.
