ST. PETER – Two kayakers were able to escape the swollen Minnesota River Sunday evening when their kayaks capsized near St. Peter.
They’ve been identified as 38-year-old Shawn Schultz of St. Peter and 29-year-old Nicholas Weerts of Winnebago.
One of them reach shore and called for help from the Kwik Trip. The second kayaker was found 40 minutes later clinging to a tree in the water.
