MANKATO -- The body of a missing MnDOT worker has been recovered.
39-year-old Michael J. Struck of Cleveland was presumed dead Tuesday after his backhoe flipped while clearing debris from in front of a culvert that allows Seven Mile Creek to flow under Highway 169 between Mankato and St. Peter.
The backhoe was parked on the shoulder of Highway 169, slid into the creek and over turned. By the time rescue crews reached the overturned vehicle, Struck's body could not be found.
Authorities believed his body had been swept through the culverts and into the flooded park on the east side of Highway 169.
Searchers returned in boats today and found Struck's body in the flooded park.
Struck had been with MnDOT for nine years.
