School Employee Pay Freeze Clears Senate Panel

ST. PAUL – A bill calling for a two-year pay freeze for school employees has passed the Senate Education Committee on a 9-7 vote.

Supporters of the bill say it will help school districts manage their costs at a time of tight budgets.

It would not affect contracts currently in place. It also prohibits unions from striking over the salary freeze.
