Blizzard Causes Major Highway Closures

MANKATO (TEC News), February 21 – The weather is calming down from last night, but road conditions are still patchy. Lisa Schmidt, meteorologist with the National Weather Service says it’s still windy: “The winds are gonna stay strong but the snow is expected to taper off.” Minnesota Department of Transportation advise minimal travel as snow continues to blow across the roads even with the plows out. indicates many highway closures around the Mankato area including highway 14 between MN 22 and Steele Co. Road 18, and between Redwood Co. 61 and U.S. 169 in Mankato. Another closure on U.S. 169 between the start near Elmore and MN 60 near North Mankato. It is advised to check for more road closures.
