Ice Safety a Priority to DNR



MANKATO (TEC News), December 16 – With many venturing out on the ice to fish or other recreational activities, the Department of Natural Resources is urging the public to take precautions. They recommend calling your local bait shop or lakeside resort to ask about ice conditions as well as checking the thickness yourself when you get out there. All cars, trucks or SUVs should be parked at least 50 feet apart and moved every two hours to prevent sinking. A diagram is posted at 3Enews.net to show the thickness needed for different things
