Suicide Rates Up in Minnesota Since the '90s (AUDIO)

MANKATO (TEC News), Sepetember 6 – The Minnesota Department of Health released numbers last week indicationg that the state has reached its highest numbers since the ‘90s in suicide rates. Close to 700 people took their own lives in the last couple years. Kent Cova, behavioral health therapist at Open Door Health Clinic in Mankato says if you know someone thinking about it, took pay attention:

Cova 1 : “First and foremost is to listen, hear the person out. It’s not a time for arguing or to try to change a person’s mind, but be supportive and understanding of what they’re going through.” :15 sec

September is National Suicide Awareness Month and Buster’s Bar & Grill will be hosting a Suicide Prevention/Yellow Ribbon Fundraiser on the 14th starting at 5:30 p.m. A $10 charge covers food and entertainment. Music starts at 7:30 from performances by Professor Fresh, Epic D, Deadly New Breed and Prymary Others.
