MANKATO (TEC News), August 29 – A DWI saturation and the MOVE OVER campaign will run through Labor Day weekend. The MOVE OVER campaign is in honor of Trooper Ted Foss, who was killed 13 years ago due to an inattentive tractor truck driver. The law was put in place preceding his death:
Jaci 1 : “We wanted legislation that would emphasize people paying attention especially red lights or any type of lights on the side of the roadway.” :10
Sgt. Jaci Sticha also commented that DWI enforcement will be at its peak with extra patrols:
Jaci 2 : “We’re visible, we’re out there, people are knowing. Make a plan. Everyone gets to go home safe. And we would actually prefer not to arrest any impaired drivers.”
Sticha says with the “last hurrah weekend” many statistics show high amounts of drinking. The state patrol is encouraging drivers to have a plan.
