MANKATO (TEC News), July 19 - Gas drive off policies were discussed in the past by public safety officials, but nothing was set in stone. Yesterday they came up with a plan to implement that goes into effect today. For drive offs that are accidental, gas stations are required to file a civil lawsuit after notifying the driver and waiting 30 days. If it's intentional, then the station is asked to call 911. The Mankato Department of Public Safety asked officials to post signs warning the public of surveillance video.
