ST. PETER (TEC News) - Investigations were completed late last night in the murder-suicide situation in St. Peter. Police responded to a call of an unresponsive female at 601 South Front Street on Monday night. When authorities arrived two individuals were found dead. After a search warrant was obtained, the St. Peter Police Department and the BCA concluded that the female victim, 48-year-old Jacquelyn Marie Johnson was shot by 53-year-old Joel Bruce Reineke, who then turned the gun on himself. Johnson was an avid member of the community and many knew her. She worked as a real estate agent, part-time letter carrier and a bartender at Hobber's Bar and Grill. When she didn't show up for her usual shifts at work, someone was sent to check on her after failed cell phone call attempts. Other sources reported that neighbors didn't hear the arguing or gunshots before police arrived on scene. No motive was confirmed, but tips indicate that the two had been in a prior relationship that was going to end and jealousy was involved.
