MANKATO (TEC News) -- Minnesota State University, Mankato recently appointed a new Associate Vice President for Research and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies. After a national search, interim dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Research, Barry Ries, was chosen for the position. Ries had served as interim dean since July 2011. Ries came to the university in 1996 after completing his clinical psychology residency at the University of Mississippi and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Jackson, Miss. While at MSU, Ries has served on the Institutional Review Board from 1997 to present, and as the director of clinical training for the clinical psychology master's program from 2008 to 2011. The new position will allow Ries to continue the expansion of the Graduate Studies "excellent reputation," guide and help develop graduate programs, and aid in the applied research and creative works of students and faculty members. Additionally, the position gives Ries the ability to work with the high-quality students who choose to pursue master's and doctoral degrees at MSU: Ries 2 "Ph.D. program" :14
Ries will officially start his new appointment on July 1.
