MANKATO (TEC News) - Visit Mankato recently recognized four area businesses for their outstanding work as ambassadors of the city. Mankato's J. Longs, Pub 500, Courtyard by Marriot, and the Planning Committee for the Minnesota Air Spectacular all received awards for their outstanding work. The awards and recognition are part of the National Travel and Tourism Week, which was created in 1983 by Congress to help recognize the travel and tourism industry. It's important to recognize those in Mankato who go above and beyond what is required of their travel, tourism, or leisure business because they're such an important part of the economy, said Anna Thill, president of Visit Mankato: Thill 2 "sales revenue" :9
In addition to generating tax dollars for the economy, all of the businesses in Blue Earth County provide employment for approximately 3,600 residents. And it's not just businesses who act as ambassadors for the city, said Thill; it's the residents, too. Mankato residents are encouraged to inform others about the great things Mankato has to offer.
