NEW ULM (TEC News) – One person is dead after a house fire early Saturday morning in rural New Ulm.
 
79-year-old Dorothy Nichols  was the lone occupant of the home at 11050 Shag Road.
 
An autopsy is pending.
 
The fire started in a converted garage being used as a residence.
 
The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
 
A next door neighbor and relative, Michael Nichols, was unable to remain in his home due to the fire and was given help by the Red Cross due to the loss of power to his home.
