MANKATO-November 30, 2012-(KMKO)-A Mankato man was arrested Wednesday for check forgery and faces three felony counts. 26-year-old Christopher Michael Virkus, who has no permanent address, stole a check from a North Mankato resident’s mailbox and tried to cash it. The check was modified to show Virkus was the payee. Further investigation found that other checks have recently been stolen from area residential mailboxes in Mankato, North Mankato and Blue Earth County and forged. The department of public safety is asking residents to take precautions when sending money through the mail.
