Mayo Health System on Meningitis List

MANKATO-October 26, 2012-(KMKO)-Mayo Health System Mankato is one of dozens of clinics in Minnesota that received potentially contaminated drugs from the New England Compounding Center of Framingham, Massachusetts.  The list was released yesterday by the Minnesota Department of Health, which just reported the state’s ninth confirmed case of fungal meningitis in a national outbreak tied to the tainted steroids.  Mayo Clinic issued a statement two weeks ago saying that it is not associated with the medicine.  Mayo does not purchase an injected medication used to treat low back pain from the manufacturer linked to an outbreak.  As an added precaution, all Mayo Clinic Health System sites have removed and quarantined all items purchased from that manufacturer.
