New Mankato Tree Planting Rules

MANKATO September 7, 2012 (KMKO) – Attention developers. The city of Mankato may change the way you can landscape.
The city says the purpose of planting trees is to provide aesthetics and screening. But they say the size of evergreen tees 2.5 feet high and shade trees at 1.25 inches diameter are too small.
The planning commission has recommended changing the ordinance to read shade trees a minimum of 2.5 inches and six feet for evergreens.
