MANKATO -July 26, 2012 - (KMKO) --A new position will be filled this fall within the Mankato Public Schools system with the help of the Department of Public Safety. Authorities plan to train an existing officer to add to the school resource officer team to have one and a half positions. One officer is expected to provide students with information on educational and mentoring opportunities while the other will do that and work with juvenile cases. Strong relational skills are needed with a positive mind set. An additional officer will be hired and trained to replace the one moving into this position.
