Mankato (KMKO)-Memorial Day ceremonies took place yesterday across the country and service organizations in greater Mankato did their part. The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Marine Corps League paid tribute to our war dead yesterday. Boy Scout troops joined in at tributes at cemeteries, nursing homes and memorials. The veterans honored those who died, but also thanked family members. It's important to note that we have a new generation of heroes who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of whom survived physically but are still suffering emotionally.
