SuperAmerica Clerk Had To Call 9-1-1 To Help Woman In Domestic

MANKATO (TEC News) -- A witness to last Wednesday's domestic altercation at the North Riverfront Drive SuperAmerica apparently watch a man physically push his girlfriend out of the store.

37-year-old Michael Rober Stark has been charged in Blue Earth County District Court with felony, 3rd Degree Assault. Two counts of misdemeanor domestic abuse and one count of fleeing police have also been filed against Start.

The clerk called 9-1-1 just after 7 p.m. on February 8th after the woman walked into the Super America and told them to call 9-1-1.

According to the clerk, Stark followed the woman into the store and allegedly said "Seriously, you're gonna call the cops. Really? You're gonna call the cops for a fight in a bar?"

Later the victim would tell officers she had been drinking and said she may have provoked him in order for him to hit her.

When police first arrived at the scene, the victim told the officer not to come over and that she just wanted to go home and forget about what happened.

Wearing no shoes, she told the officer she lost them running from her boyfriend.

Police saw a man matching the suspects description appear and then take off running when he saw them outside the convenience store.

Another officer spotted the man running on East Rock Street.

A foot chase ensued going through two back yards and over two fences before Stark emerged into an alley where he encountered a squad car and another officer on foot giving chase.

At that point Start surrendered without incident.

Police note the victim needed several stitches.
