Children Running Around Parking Lot Results In Charges For Mom

MANKATO (TEC News) -- A mom from Marshall is facing child neglect and endangerment charges after a human service worker saw children running around last month in the parking lot of TJ Maxx in Mankato.

The employee of Le Sueur County Human Services called Mankato police the evening of January 14 after she says she witnessed a 5 or 6 year-old boy getting in and out of a vehicle, running around, hitting a baby strapped in a car seat and kicking other children in the car.

A Mankato police officer arrived at  the scene about 16 minutes after the 9-1-1 and according to a court complaint against Kathryn Louise Hill, 29, also observed the unattended children.

The officer said a short later, a female with a large shopping bag came out of the store running to the vehicle. Police say Hill claimed to have only been away from the vehicle for five minutes or so.

The charges are Gross Misdemeanor.
