MANKATO (TEC News) -- An rural Amboy man charged last week for possession of child pornography and for being a felon in possession of a firearm is now facing a whole new set of charges.
Bail has been set at $50,000 for Dwight Thomas Traxler, 52, after he was charged with manfacturing methamphetamine and possing the precursors to manufacture methamphetamine.
Blue Earth County Sheriff Detective were at his home after Traxler's girlfriend called authorities after seeing what she suspected was porn in the home involving children she believed were between the ages of 5 and 12.
Detectives stopped the search for child porn after finding evidence of a meth lab in the home. Agents with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force were notified and a new search warrant was obtained.
Among the items that can be used to make meth, agents seized 31 bottles of ISO Heet, various bottle of drain cleaner, and muriatic acid.
Agents also found mason jars and a home made funnel, all tested positive for trace amounts of meth.
Traxler has spent time in federal prison for a 1997 conviction on conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. He also had been arrested in 1995 for making meth out of a garage in the city of Jordan. He would later serve home detention for testing positive for drugs while on probation in 2005. In 2007 he was sentenced to 20 days in jail in Rice County for endanging a child for having drugs in the presence of a child.
