UPDATED -- Bag Of Debris Used To Start Saturday's Apartment Fire

MANKATO (TEC News) -- A spokesperson for the Mankato Fire Department this morning says they found no signs of an accelerant used to start Saturday's fire inside a Mankato apartment building.

Lt. Glen Cansler say while the "ignition source" remains "undetermined", they discovered that a bag of "miscellanous debris" had been lit on fire in the Homestead Drive apartment building's entry way.

Investigators have, however, ruled the fire an arson.

Damage was minor, estimated at $1,500. There was no structural damage to the building, according to Cansler.

There was minor smoke damage extendingup a staircast to the second floor.

A fire alarm syster, automatically closing fire door and quick notificaiton prevented the fire from spreading and allowed firefighters to quickly qxtinguish it.
