One Dead, Four Injured In Crash Near St. Peter



ST. PETER (TEC News) -- One person is dead and four other injured in a single-car crash early Sunday morning near St. Peter.

The crash happened around 2:50 a.m. on Le Sueur County Road 45, also known as "The Rabbit Road", just south of Highway 99 in Kasota Township.

Investigators saythe car was northbound on the county road when the driver lost control on a curve, went into the west ditch and struck several trees.

Elizabeth Ann Risk, 21, of Gaylord was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) where was was later pronounced dead.

Jennifer Ann McCormick, 27, of Arlington was also airlifted to HCMC. Her condition has not been released.

Coy Charles Hewitt, 34, of Fairfax was taken to Mayo Clinic Health Syster (MCHS) hospital in Mankato. His condition also isn't know at their time.

Two other, Katherine Meredith Rik, 24, of Kasota and Kerry Ann Olson, 40, of Le Center were both taken to Rivers Edge Hospital in St. Peter with minor injuries.

Authorities have not said who was driving the car at the time of the crash.

The fatal accident remains under investigation by the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
