State Education Commissioner In Mankato Today

MANKATO (TEC News) -- State Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius will be in Mankato this afternoon to discuss why Minnesota wants out of the federal No Child Left Behind law.

The state wants to do away with the single, high-stakes test with an evaluation system based on student growth, reductions to achievement gaps and graduation rates.

She's scheduled to speak from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota River Room, Mankato Intergovernmental Center, 10 Civic Center Plaza.
