Rash Of Burglaries In West Mankato

MANKATO (TEC News) -- Mankato police are investigation at least a dozen burglaries that happened over the weekend in an area of west Mankato.

Public Safety Commander Jeremy Clifton says the burglaries happened in an area of Woodland and Blue Earth Streets and West 6th and 7th Streets.

Clifton said the burglaries were a mix of the suspect entering attached and unattached garages and in some cases entering the home.

It appears the burglar was only looking for small amounts of cash and coins and leaving more valuable items behind. The homes and cars were unlocked in most cases, but in a couple cases screen doors may cut open to gain entry.

In one case a female awoke to dogs barking and witnessed a male leaving the back of her yard. She gave police only a vague description of a white male wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt.

The burglaries occurred in the early morning hours of both Saturday and Sunday.
