MAPLETON (TEC News) – Former Blue Earth County Commissioner Alvis More is dead after an accident on his farm Monday afternoon.More was burning a small pile of garbage on his farm northeast of Mapleton when some land on the east side of his driveway caught fire.
More got into his tractor with a disk and appeared to be trying to head off the fire, but the tractor quickly became fully engulfed.
When fire crews from Pemberton arrived on the scene around 1:19 p.m., there appeared to be a body inside the cab of the tractor.
Blue Earth County Sheriff investigators arrived at the scene and determined the body was that of the 77-year-old More.
The body has been taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner along with dental records for an autopsy and positive identification.
