Man Steals Car From Women At Gun Point

MANKATO (TEC News) – An armed robbery late Thursday night in Mankato led to the arrest of a man inside the car he allegedly stole from the victims.
Police say 21-year-old Christopher Edward Sungmin-Carter was arrested a short time after he approached two 19-year-old woman in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Monks Avenue.
The women say Sungmin-Carter pointed a handgun at them and demanded their car keys.
He then fled in their 2005 Ford Taurus.
Police stopped the car on Victory Drive near the intersection of Balcerzak Drive and was arrested without incident.
A replica handgun was recovered in the stolen car.
Sungmin-Carter has been formally charged in Blue Earth County District Court with felony counts of First Degree Aggravated Robbery and Second Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
