Cops Throw Flag On Late Night Football Toss

MANKATO (TEC News) – An intoxicated 20-year-old Mankato man threatened to shoot a security guard who was trying to break up a 1 a.m. game of football in a apartment complex parking lot.

The security guard for 1335 Pohl Road called police at 1:20 a.m. to report a disturbance in the parking lot.

The guard told police he approached a group of males throwing a football around and told them they had to stop due to the time of day and the possibility of damaging vehicles.

According to a criminal complaint, Eric Green became belligerent and told the security guard "if you keep doing this, I will shoot you."

Green allegedly said the security guard was a "fun sucker."

The guard felt threatened and called Mankato police.

Green's friends tried to calm him down, according to the security guard. The guard says Green's friends were trying to calm him down. However, when that didn't work, one of the men came over and punched Green, knocking him to the ground.

Green denied making any threats to the security guard. The arresting officer noted signs of intoxication in Green and because of his age had him take a portable breath test, which read .141.

He faces a felony charge of terroristic threats and underage drinking.
