MANKATO (TEC News) – A LeSueur man told Mankato police he was unaware he called 9-1-1 when they swooped in on his car last week.
That was bad luck for 22-year-old Bryce Thomas Prax, because a Mankato police commander says the line was open for two minutes, allowing dispatch to listen to two men allegedly discuss drug deals and smoking pot.
Dispatch was able to map the call to the Mankato Target parking lot.
It was around 3:43 a.m. when officers arrived on August 29th and found two vehicles parked together and the two male drivers talking to each other through the vehicle windows.
Commander Craig Frericks says the officer reported smelling pot and while questioning both men, determined the call came from Prax’s cellphone.
Prax was given a ticket for misdemeanor possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The other driver, a male from Mankato, was not cited.
