MANKATO (TEC News) – A man made his first mistake early Friday morning when he tried to rob a Mankato woman.
The second mistake was trying to rob a Mankato woman who had no money.
The incident in the alley of the 400 block of South Broad Street happened around 2:15 a.m., but Mankato police say they don’t know why it took the woman nearly 18 hours to report the crime.
The woman says the masked man with a small, black handgun jumped out of the bushes near the old downtown KFC and demanded money. When she told him she didn’t have any money, he made her empty out her purse.
She screamed and the frustrated armed robber, according to the woman, said ‘Just go then.”
