Mankato Cop Serving Arrest Warrant Uncovers Marijuana Grow Operation

MANKATO (TEC News) – A Mankato police officer serving a felony warrant in July used his experience on the drug task force to uncover a marijuana grow operation.

According to a search warrant filed in Blue Earth County District Court, the officer could smell marijuana when the subject of the arrest warrant answered the door of the apartment in the 600 block of South Broad Street.

While searching the apartment for other people, the officer observed a fluorescent light and potting soil.

The officer contacted the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force, who obtained a search warrant on July 28, and seized 13 small marijuana plants.

No charges have been filed in the case.
