MANKATO (TEC News) -- Plans for a social host ordinance will go before Blue Earth County Commissioners Tuesday morning.
The public hearing for the ordinance is set for 9:30 a.m.
The ordinance is similar to one already in place in the city of Mankato.
It would prohibit and establish criminal penalties for any person hosting an event or gathering where alcohol is present and is being possessed or consumed by person under 21 years of age.
A person who hosts an event or gathering does not have to be present at the event or gathering to be criminally responsible.
The ordinance, however, does not apply to conduct between an underage person and his or her parents while present in the parents home.
