Lake Crystal Coach Trial Will Be Delayed

MANKATO – The trial of a former high school basketball coach accused of having sex with one of his players will likely be delayed.

28-year-old Steve Campbell of Lake Crystal was scheduled to go on trial July 20th. But his dates may have to be used by two men who are in custody and are demanding a speedy trial.
The attorney for Steve Campbell is asking a judge to keep a jury from hearing audio and video recordings of interviews conducted by investigators with the 17-year-old girl.

Jim Fleming says if the recording are allowed, it would allow the prosecution to have the girl tell her side of the story without allowing the defense their right to cross examine her.

A new trial date has yet to be set.
