MANKATO – Mayo Clinic Health Systems (MCHS) in Mankato plans to move several departments from their main campus to the downtown Northwestern Office building (conceptual rendering left). Mayo is asking the city of Mankato for a $400,000 loan to help pay for the $1.35 million dollar renovation. The request also includes a $25,000 grant for exterior facade improvements.
The downtown location will become home to an appointment call center, public affairs and marketing.
Northwestern Office Building Partnership (NOBP) has requested a total of $400,000 in City Center Renaissance Revolving Loan funds for building improvement and tenant improvement.
NOBP and MCHS are in final lease negotiations for 16,249 of space. If everything move forward, construction is expected to being this summer with completion by the end of 2011.
MCHS would consolidate certain functions at this location. An appointment scheduling call center would be on the first floor and regional support functions (quality, public affairs, marketing and development) would be on the fourth floor.
City documents that will be reviewed Monday by the EDA, say initally 60 positions would be housed at the new location. 45 to 50 of thses position will be relocated from other facilites in the region with another 10 to 15 new, full-time position. Within two years MCHS estimates as many as 100 full-time positions in the new location.
