NORTH MANKATO – A statue stolen from lower North Mankato has been returned. Police say passing citizens found the statue wrapped in a plastic bag on the pedestal it was stolen from along Belgrade Avenue in front of the post office.
North Mankto police say the statue was discovered around 2 a.m. Police also say they are confident those who found the statue were not responsible for its disappearance.
The statue has been turned over to North Mankato city staff and they are making contact with the artist for its return.
There is still a $500 reward for information about who took the statue.
The sculpture was one of 25 scattered around downtown Mankato and North Mankato as part of the CityArt Walk.
