MANKATO -- Court records say a New Hope man who crashed his car into a sign during the Memorial Day holiday weekend had a blood alcohol content of 0.147.
27-year-old Jonathan Bjorke faces two felony counts of Criminal Vehicular Operation and two lesser counts of DWI.
When State Troopers arrived at the scene, witnesses pointed out Bjorke as the driver. The trooper also notes witnesses were concerned about the female passenger who was unresponsive with blood coming from her mouth. Investigators say the woman was not buckled and hit her head on the windshield and was thrown back, breaking the seat.
While waiting for the results of the PBT, Bjorke allegedly told the trooper "I will fail that."
At the hospital, the female victim refused to sign a medical release for law enforcement, saying she "loves him" and doesn’t want Bjorke to get into trouble.
Bjorke told investigators the pair had just left a Mankato bar and were arguing at the time of the crash.
Bjorke has a 2008 DWI conviction in Hennepin County.
