MANKATO-September 10, 2012-(KMKO)-Brush will be removed today on the river side of the flood control system from Highway 169 to Sibley Park.  Officials say the removal ensures the system is fully operational if a flood should occur.  As crews work to clear the half mile section, brush piles will be burned throughout the day.  Burning is expected to last through September 21.  The fires will be extinguished at the end of each day.
