Mankato (KMKO)-Mankato's Veteran's Memorial Place was dedicated yesterday in a ceremony attended by several hundred people. The place of honor for those who died serving our country has been a work in progress. Construction started five years ago as many organizations and individuals joined the city of Mankato in donating time and money. The memorial, which already contains more than 500 brick pavers, is in the shape of a star to commemorate the five branches of the military. Each paver recognizes a service member with their name, rank and date of service.
