Teen Killed In North Mankato Crash

NORTH MANKATO (TEC News) -- An 18-year-old boy is dead following a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night in North Mankato.

Matthew Buryska was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his father, 47-year-old Peter Buryska.

The State Patrol says they were traveling northbound on Lookout Drive around 10:30 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

Peter Buryska and a second passenger, 14-year-old Sarah Buryska were both taken to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Mankato with "non life threatening" injuries, according to a State Patrol accident report.

All three were wearing their seatbelts and the State Patrol says alcohol was not a factor.

MCHS spokesperson Kevin Burns says Peter Buryska was treated and released and was not able to give a condition update on Sarah Buryska because she is a minor.

Road conditions were "dry" as the time.

State Patrol spokesperson Jacalyn Sticha says they are not speculating on the cause of the crash at this time.

Sticha says the accident reconstruction is at the scene today, so it's too early to say what caused the car to leave the street and hit the tree.
