Mankato Council To Unveil Towing Contract Tonight



MANKATO (TEC News) -- Mankato city staff are recommending awarding a joint towing contract for Mankato/North Mankato to All-American Towing.

All-American's snow emergency tow fee bid of $54 was a $1.25 lower than current contract holder Affordable Towing.

All-American also outbid Affordable for accident tows $110 to $120.

However, Affordable price for outside storage per day was lower than All-American $15 per day to $20 per day. The storage cost kicks in if the vehicle is not picked up during the first 24 hours after a tow.

Conditions of the contract requires All-American purchase and provide the total number of tow vehicles prior to implementation of the contract. All-American is also required to bring storage lots into compliance with City Code within 30 days of the contract.

The contract with Affordable Towing ends on November 30, 2011. The new contract will expire at the end of November 2013.

The agreement would require All-American to provied up to eight tow trucks for a snow emergency within one hour of notification. They also must have 10 fully equipped towing trucks exclusively available to the cities of Mankato and North Mankato for towing services.
