MANKATO-August 28, 2012-(KMKO)-The city of Mankato will now charge a fee for those who request a hearing to appeal the loss of a business, liquor or dog license. The ordinance, which was approved by the city council on a 6-1 vote last night, puts the cost of a hearing to appeal business license at $150. To appeal a liquor lice violation will cost $300 and a dog license appeal will cost $250. The money will offset the average cost to the city of about $600 per hearing. Mankato City Manager Pat Hentges argued in favor of the ordinance, saying there should be financial consequence for a hearing.
