MANKATO (TEC News) - The Mankato Department of Public Safety released statements concerning the importance of safe and secure storage of firearms. Deputy Director of Public Safety, Matt Westermeyer is concerned for the safety of children in the homes, prevention of injuries and firearms being used in other situations:

Westermeyer also commented that someone could be charged with a gross misdemeanor for not properly storing firearms.
