Bail Set For Strong After Failing Drug Test And Skipping The Next
MANKATO -- A judge has set bail for a Mankato woman who failed one court ordered drug test and then decided to not show up for the next.
24-year-old Nicole Strong first made news in early November when she was reported missing to Mankato police after failing to return to meet someone at a Mankato hotel. The next day police released her photo and she was later found safe.
A week later, Strong was arrested in Mankato with another man in a drug task force sting with meth.
A judge would release he without bail, but with conditions such as no use of a controlled substance and random testing.
Blue Earth County Jail officials reported to the court that Strong tested positive for amphetamines on December 10th. It wasn't until she failed to appear for a December 15th test that the violation was reported and an arrest warrant was issued.
In court today, Strong's attorney said she was prepared to admit to the violation with an explanation.
Attorney Phillip Elbert had now excuse for the failed drug test, but claimed Strong missed the next drug test due to "not having a driver's license" and "the weather."
Judge Norbert Smith imposed a $1,500 bail on Strong along with continued conditions such as drug testing.
At the time of her first arrest, Strong allegedly told a drug task force agent that she had just recently started using meth and that her life wasn't going good because of it.
Strong is set to be back in court on January 11th.
