Ask-A-Trooper: Child Booster Seat Laws

MANKATO (TEC News), October 2 – Questions have surfaced again about child booster seat laws. We spoke with Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jaci Sticha and she said best practice is always the way to go:

Sticha 8 : “If that child can sit in the seat with his rump pushed to the back of the seat, the bite of the seat, and at the knees, they bend and the leg goes straight down.” : 09.2 sec

The law states that a child under 8-years and shorter than 4-feet needs to have a booster installed to the manufacturer’s instructions. Sticha stresses that best practice is always the better choice because every child is different in size.
